3-Step Process
Step 1. Get Inspired & Decide to Start a Job
Check out Social Media, Visit Homes, Dream big. Remember, not all projects are big – sometimes home repair, cleaning, and maintenance is all that’s needed.
Step 2. Order Up Via the Toolio App
a) Select A Job
- Pick a job category like: painting, flooring, or landscaping
- Then pick a job, like: interior painting, tile flooring, or raised garden beds
b) Pick A Package
- Job Packs are the default and covers a comprehensive list of tools to get the job done. This is our signature feature. We guarantee* this pack to contain every tool needed. If anything more is needed, we’ll ship tools on rush-order free of charge. *If a tool was de-selected by the user, free delivery is not eligible.
- Speed Packs are our premium packages and are focused on efficiency or very specialized parts of a job.
- Build It Yourself packages offer an a la carte option for jobs not in our list or to easily mix and match tools.
Quantity for each item can be adjusted. Need extra quantities of a tool in the list? Add them. Already have a tool? Simply de-select.
What About Materials?
For each job, we offer a focused set of materials for the job. These are the materials that can make all the difference for a professional-quality job. We don’t sell large building materials like lumber, paint, or flooring. Instead, we focus on the few key items to take a job from okay to amazing like: spackling, protective coverings, or adhesives.
Pricing
Our pricing is simple: a daily rate per tool and a delivery charge. No deposits – we simply require a credit card on file to cover damages. Insurance is offered for a small charge dependent on each tool to protect against repair or replacement fees.
Types Of Tools
We intend to offer nearly every non-heavy equipment construction tool used for residential project. Currently, Toolio does not provide rentals of large equipment including tractors, backhoes, or trucks – but nearly everything else. Is there a tool you’d want to rent? Plan rental period. We offer in 1-day increments, with discounts after 3-days, 5-days, and 15-days. Completing a job in 1-day can be challenging – take stress out of the job with at least a 3-days rental.
Sign a rental agreement and complete payment. The rental agreement details legal expectations including on-the-job usage, liability, and return conditions. Payment is completed via Stripe. Stripe has industry-leading safety and protection of financial information. Through Stripe, Toolio receives payment but never receives or stores personal financial information.
Step 3. Build & Return
Get the job done. Take pictures along the way and use this to inspire others.
During the job, be sure to use the tools as they are intended. Our tools are especially durable – but they should still be treated well.
Return at scheduled time. Pack all items back into the storage/shipping container and let us know in the app where we should pickup the tools.
Need more time? Simply update the pickup time.
Once a rental is complete, each item is delivered back to a Toolio Care Center for receiving inspection. Toolio utilizes an extensive receiving inspection, with photos of each item. This helps ensure our rental community is accountable for good use of tools. If items aren’t returned or not returned as delivered, users are charged fees as listed in the rental agreement. Some may be minor, we can fix it, or a minor cleaning is needed, there might no fee at all. However if an item is missing or damaged beyond repair, the replacement price will be charged.
Construction tools are meant for hard work we expect tools to get scuffed and scraped. But when returned, they need to be in working order without performance-damaging dents, cracks, missing parts, leftover materials such as thinset, paint, compound, etc.
We’ll give guidance for each item in the rental order of important areas to check out before returning back to us.
Last, come back again. Our customers typically return several times per year – sometimes for similar jobs with repeat tool rentals and for others each rental represents a brand new project.
