Tool Rental Substitution Policy
We rent tools to help you finish projects, not just fill orders. That means if a specific tool is unavailable, we’ll substitute something that actually works just as well for your job.
Our default: exact match. We always aim to send the precise make and model you booked. Substitutions only happen when inventory doesn’t allow it.
When we do substitute, here’s what we protect:
- Performance stays close. Replacements fall within 20% of the advertised specs. A 2.7 GPM pressure washer might become a 2.5 GPM unit. Similar power, same result.
- Critical dimensions don’t change. A 10″ miter saw won’t be swapped for a 12″ one. If the size matters for the cut, we honor it.
- Corded vs. cordless is never interchangeable. If you booked a cordless drywall gun for ceiling work, a corded version won’t cut it. We won’t make that swap without calling you first.
- Upgrades are free and need your OK. If the only available option is meaningfully better, we’ll reach out and offer it at no extra charge.
A quick example: A 5,000 BTU portable AC might be swapped for a 6,000 BTU unit. Slightly more cooling, close to the original spec, no downside for your project. That’s a call we’d make. Swapping cordless for corded? That’s a call we’d make to you.
Why substitutions happen at all: We source tools across multiple suppliers to get you what you need, when you need it. Flexibility in substitutions gives us broader reach, so we’re not stuck when one specific model is unavailable. It keeps your project moving without delays.
Every substitution gets evaluated against your specific project. If it doesn’t serve the job, we won’t send it.
